service? Ask us to include you on our list. Do you know of a ministry
opportunity, help us to inform TBS alumni about it?
The accreditation site visit was
a tremendous success. Pray for the new students coming
next semester.

Armando S. Torralva
Lieutenant Commander, Chaplain Corps
U.S. Navy
"Greetings from the Naval Air Station -
Kingsville, Texas. I came across your website and
was surprised to see Chaplain Jay Hartranft. I
attended Seminary with him. Jay took the easy way
out by joining the Army. Real men join the Navy.
I am serving our Lord as a Navy Chaplain. I have
been serving as a Chaplain for 25 years. I graduated
from TTU in '76 with a B.A. in history, T.B.S. in
'82 with an M.R.E. and in '83 with a B.Div. I have
served with the President's Helicopter Squadron
("Marine One" which lands on the south lawn of the
White House), surface ships, the submarine
community, and as a Supervisory Chaplain to six
shore bases in the Mediterranean--from Rota, Spain,
to Souda Bay, Greece --- based in Naples, Italy.
Presently I am serving as Command Chaplain at the
Naval Air Station - Kingsville, Texas. I have had
the joy of leading many men and women to Jesus
Christ. Some of the people I led to the Lord took
place during long deployments to the Persian Gulf.
My wife, Trudi, also graduated from TBS--'82/M.R.E.
and has faithfully supported me and helped me in my
ministry. The Lord has blessed us with many
opportunities to serve Him.
In '96 the Navy selected me for a post graduate
program. As a result, I attended Princeton
Theological Seminary where I graduated with a Th.M.
degree in Christian Education. I am extremely
grateful that I received my initial training at
Temple. After attending Princeton, I can honestly
say that the theological education I received at
Temple is far superior. Thank God Temple has
stood firm in the Word from its beginning. May it
continue to do so."

Vince Estill
Thg., B.R.E.,
M. Div., Th. M., D. Min.
Pastor - Bible Way Baptist Church, Rossville, GA
It would have to be verified in the records
department of TTU, but I believe I may be the only
student in the history of the school to attend all
three divisions (Bible School, University, and
Seminary) and earn five degrees (Thg.
[Bible School 3-year diploma], B.R.E., M.Div., Th.M.,
and D.Min).
Out of High School and after attending the
University of Detroit School of Architecture and
Structural Engineering for two years, I decided to
attend a Christian college for one year. In that
year, I thought to myself, if God wants me to
build people rather than build buildings,
He can let me know. Otherwise, I intended to return
to U of D and finish my MBA majoring in Architecture
specializing in church design.
In my first semester (Fall, 1978) God spoke to my
heart during a Sunday morning worship service. At
the invitation, I went forward to commit my life to
full-time Christian service. The one year I gave
to God at a Christian college turned into 14 years
(10 years classroom study with 4 years dissertation
research and writing for Th.M and D.Min). I
graduated Doctor of Ministry in the spring of 1992.
While still working my way through Seminary, Bible
Way Baptist Church in Rossville, GA called me to be
their pastor in October, 1987. God has blessed the
ministry with prosperity and good success (as Joshua
1:8 describes). But I believe what God is giving
to me is facilitated and enhanced through my
training and experience at Temple. A debt of
gratitude I owe to all my professors and teachers at
TTU.
Although I appreciate my undergrad foundation,
the education I received at
Temple Baptist Seminary is what has set the tone for
a solid, conservative, and balanced approach in my
ministry. It took a long time, but I
didn’t mind, because I love learning. For the
glory of God, it was time well spent. |
